Each fall, the YLI conducts the largest secure, student-only, online mock election in the nation, using electronic ballots tailored to each student's home legislative district. In their e-Congress program, students research, draft and pass original legislation. There are also lesson plans, a mock political campaign, and more.

Benchmarks: • Formulate questions about the topic with guidance • Predict answers to inquiry questions based on background knowledge and beginning observation or experience. • Assess questions to determine which can be answered by simple facts, which cannot be answered, and which would lead to an interesting inquiry. • Select a variety of credible sources in different formats relevant to research needs. • Evaluate and select information based on usefulness, currency, accuracy, authority, and point of view.
